The people in this part of the world are a hardy and resilient lot and have traditionally excelled in trade and commerce. The fine arts of music, painting, sculpture and architecture of this region are much sought after and emulated across cultures. By religion mostly they are Hindu Jains.

The devastating earthquake on 26th January 2001 hit many cities & towns of our district, the epicenter was near Bhuj. Rotary Foundation’s 3 H Grant has built many schools in that area.

Our district has a distinct urban & rural cultural combination which reflects the developed and developing aspect of our country.

The first club of the district was self formed club way back in 1936 and that is R. C. Ahmedabad, since than our district has never looked back in terms of no of clubs and membership.
