Yashpal Das
RI Director 2011-13

A member of the Rotary Club of Ambala since 1971, Yash has served Rotary with distinction at club, district and international level. He has served Rotary in several assignments, such as International Training Leader, Discussion Moderator, Group Study Exchange Team Leader and committee Chair and task force member. Chairman for the 2006 Rotary Institute for Zones 5 & 6a in Chandigarh.

A former member of the India National Polio Plus Committee for 14 years. He has served as the Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Zones 4 & 6a comprising of Northern Eastern Western Central India & Nepal.

Currently he is the R.I. Director Elect for 2011-13.

Yash is a benefactor and is also a recipient of the citation for "Meritorious Service Award" from The Rotary Foundation. In recognition of his outstanding non financial contribution to Polio Eradication within the region he is a recipient of the Regional Service Award for a Polio Free World.

Yash is a second generation Rotarian, who earlier served as an executive officer in the Merchant Navy. His father was the charter member of the Rotary club of Ambala and served as District Governor in 1967-68.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of the family business of running an Automobile Dealership, retailing passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

He is a member of various commerce bodies connected with road transportation, and serves on the board of several educational institutions and is also a member of the Rotary Society for the Hearing Impaired. Yash is married to Manju a past president of the Inner Wheel Club and both are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation.

SHEKHAR MEHTA

RI Director 2011-13

SHEKHAR MEHTA did his graduation from St. Xavier's College and M.Com from Calcutta University. He is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Company Secretary. He is a builder heading the SKYLINE GROUP of Companies. Shekhar is a member of many professional, social, cultural and charitable organizations. Shekhar joined Rotary in the year 1985 and was President in the Year 1991-92. He is a member of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar. Shekhar served the District as District Governor in 1999-2000.

Shekhar has led some of the biggest projects in not only his District but in India. Some of them are:-
Healing Little Hearts having done nearly 300 HEART surgeries for children
Rotary Mahanagar Netralaya a state-of-the-art Eye Hospital in Kolkata
Constructing 500 homes for Tsunami Survivors at Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Shekhar has been International Trainer at Anaheim, USA for 2 consecutive years.
Shekhar has been Discussion Facilitator during 2008 & 2009 Conventions.
He was the Representative of District 3290 to the Council on Legislation at Chicago
An ardent supporter of the Rotary Foundation he served as Major Gift & Strategic Advisor. His passion is raising funds for TRF. He was awarded the "Meritorious Service Award" of the Rotary Foundation and Distinguished Service Award
He is the recipient of "The Service Above Self" Award
He is a Life Member of The 4 Way Test Association of India and has 100% attendance
Since his induction in Rotary. Shekhar will serve as Director of Rotary International in the years 2011-2013. He will be a member of the RI Boards Administration Committee, The Strategic Planning Committee and the Council on Legislation Advisory Committee.

Rm. Shekhar is married to RASH!, a past president of Inner Wheel who takes keen interest in service and cultural activities and dramatics. They have two children son Chiraag married to Geeta and daughter Chandni. Shekhar now devotes a major part of his time for humanitarian programmes for communities all over India and has set out some challenging Service activity goals.

His guiding Mantra is "Service is the Rent I pay for the space I occupy on this earth".
